Historical Milestones of the Erasmus+ Program

1987
Foundation of the Erasmus program. First student exchange launched within the EU.
1995–2006
Erasmus becomes part of the Socrates I and II programs – expansion into language and educational initiatives.
2007–2013
Integration into the Lifelong Learning program – supporting mobility and partnerships in higher education.
2014
Creation of Erasmus+: a single program for education, youth, and sport in the EU.
2021–2027
New phase of Erasmus+ focusing on digital transformation, inclusion, sustainability, and active citizenship.
