History of the Department

The Department of Software for Automated Systems was established in 1998 as a result of the reorganization of the Department of Computer Technology and the founding of the FITIS faculty, to which it belongs. The department is a graduating one in specialty 121 – Software Engineering.

The educational process is conducted by 12 academic staff members, including 2 professors, 8 PhDs, associate professors, senior lecturers, and assistants. The department also includes 1 representative of educational support staff, a total of 13 employees. Over the years, 1 doctoral and 9 PhD dissertations have been defended.

Training is conducted in specialty 121 – Software Engineering, in two specializations:

  • Software Engineering
  • Information Technologies of Programming Intelligent Systems

Graduates receive:

  • a bachelor's degree after 4 years of study
  • a master's degree after 5.5 years of study

The department also assists in the training of applicants in the specialties: 126 – Information Systems and Technologies, 123 – Computer Systems and Networks, 035 – Applied Linguistics.

Faculty members of the department are actively engaged in research, publish methodological materials and scientific articles, and participate in the development of theoretical and practical solutions in the field of software for automated information collection and processing systems.

Software engineering is a modern field covering all stages of software development: from requirements specification to maintenance of the finished system. It is one of the most promising and dynamic fields, with leading companies such as Google, Microsoft, Facebook.

In Ukraine and particularly in the Central region, dozens of IT companies operate successfully, fulfilling orders for state and international clients, providing professional development and high salaries.

Our students:

The department has 2 computer laboratories with modern equipment, multimedia classrooms, and 2 lecture halls.

Our students participate in olympiads, conferences, and the best ones in research work. Many continue their studies in postgraduate school.

Graduates of the department work in leading IT companies of the region, hold key positions in project teams, and successfully realize themselves as developers, analysts, testers, and IT project managers.
