Department of Automated Systems Software

The Department of Software for Automated Systems (SAS) was established in 1998 as a result of the reorganization of the “Computer Technology” department and the creation of the FITIS Faculty, of which it is a part. The department is the graduating department for the specialty 121 – Software Engineering.
About the speciality
Software Engineering is a field that covers all stages of software creation: from requirements specification to post-deployment system maintenance.
Studying at the SAS Department is an investment in the future. Our students gain both theoretical knowledge and practical skills not only in programming, but also in requirements analysis, teamwork on joint projects, quality assurance and product testing, as well as in managing software development and the life cycle of software projects.
Teaching staff and educational process
Our students undergo industrial internships from the 1st to the 5th year in real IT companies. This allows them to:
- gain real-world experience in the IT field;
- establish connections with potential employers;
- simplify the employment process after graduation.
The department also includes one educational support staff member. In total — 13 employees. Over the years of the department’s existence, 1 doctoral dissertation and 9 PhD theses have been defended.

The department trains specialists in the specialty 121 – Software Engineering at the following educational levels:
- Bachelor
- Master
- Doctor of Philosophy
Material and technical base
Within the first five years of its existence, the department began training not only bachelors but also masters and PhD students, which made it possible to meet the Level IV accreditation requirements — the highest in Ukraine.
